Used 2020 RAM 2500 for Sale nearEdmonton, AB

How much does the 2020 RAM 2500 cost?

Prices have softened 16.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 204 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 RAM 2500 earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, comfortable ride, and impressive interior features. The review summary also points to the Cummins diesel engine’s reliability and the truck’s towing capability as recurring strengths.

The trade-offs are clear too: sluggish performance is called out by experts, and owners note weaker fuel economy and some interior design annoyances.

For buyers who want a heavy-duty truck that feels more refined than basic, the Ram 2500 fits the bill especially well. It is aimed at shoppers who need serious work capability without giving up comfort or an upscale cabin.

With 33.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still a decent amount of value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability, dependability, and a truck that many drivers feel they can count on over the long term. That lines up with the diesel powertrain’s reputation in the review summary, where the Cummins engine is singled out positively.

The diesel setup is described as durable and well suited to heavy use, and the exhaust brake is framed as a useful feature that can help reduce brake wear during towing. That kind of hardware support is a good sign for buyers planning to keep the truck for demanding work.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the truck’s previous life involved hard towing, heavy payloads, or neglected maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 RAM 2500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin quality rises sharply as you move up the range, with upper trims delivering very good materials and, on the Laramie Longhorn and Limited, an especially upscale finish. The base truck is more work-focused, while higher trims add the polished look and feel that make this model stand out.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 and a 6.7-litre Cummins inline-six diesel, both paired with an 8-speed automatic and available in rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The V8 is the stronger choice for payload, while the diesel is the towing specialist and the better fit if you want maximum hauling ability.
• Safety package: The truck does not have a rated crash-test result here, and most driver assists are optional rather than standard. Available features include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and forward emergency braking, so you should check carefully for the equipment you want.
• Infotainment: A 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth is standard, but the 8.4-inch Uconnect system is the better everyday choice, and the 12-inch display is the standout upgrade. The larger screen makes trailer settings, cameras, and navigation much easier to use.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada does not rate heavy-duty trucks for fuel efficiency, but one test averaged close to 12.4 litres per 100 kilometres over more than 800 mostly highway kilometres.

Which 2020 RAM 2500 trim should I buy?

The 2020 RAM 2500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited, and Power Wagon.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-first choice, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point into the lineup. It gives you the core heavy-duty capability without the luxury extras that push the price up quickly.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday comfort and convenience without jumping too far into premium pricing. If you want a balanced used buy, this is the trim to focus on first.
• Laramie: This is the point where the truck starts to feel notably more upscale, with a stronger emphasis on comfort and interior quality. It suits you if you want a nicer daily driver without going all the way to the top.
• Laramie Longhorn: This trim leans hard into luxury, with the most distinctive cabin presentation and a very premium feel. Choose it if interior craftsmanship matters as much as towing or hauling.
• Limited: This is the top luxury pick, and it is the trim to target if you want the most polished version of the truck. It is the best fit if you want the Ram 2500 to feel as close as possible to a premium SUV inside.
• Power Wagon: This is the off-road-focused choice, and it stands apart from the rest of the lineup for buyers who want trail capability rather than maximum towing or luxury. It is the one to buy if your priorities lean toward rugged use instead of refinement.

Most shoppers will be happiest in Big Horn or Laramie, depending on how much comfort you want to pay for. If you want the most upscale cabin, move up to Laramie Longhorn or Limited; if you want off-road character, the Power Wagon is the clear specialist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 204 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.74% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,836 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 safe?

The Ram 2500 will not be rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most driver assists are optional, including blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and forward emergency braking. Ram says the emergency braking system will function with a trailer attached, which is especially useful for towing.

The main caveat is that you should not expect a fully standard safety suite on every trim. If safety tech matters to you, verify the exact equipment on the truck you are considering.

Should I buy a 2020 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for its upscale feel, impressive technology, and strong capability in a heavy-duty package.

The bottom line: The 2020 RAM 2500 is a strong choice if you want a heavy-duty truck that feels more refined than most rivals and you value comfort, tech, and capability in equal measure. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to focus on the best-value trims and the lower end of the market range rather than stretching for a top-spec truck.
