How much does the 2020 Mazda CX-5 cost?

There are 411 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable interior, smooth and quiet ride, and strong highway power. Many also like the safety features and the more luxurious feel, which fits the CX-5’s premium-leaning positioning.

The main trade-offs are limited cargo space and rear legroom, along with technology that feels dated. That matters most if you want a compact SUV for family duty or frequent tech use, but it matters less if you value refinement and driving enjoyment.

Given the CX-5’s upscale feel in a crowded compact SUV market, it suits you best if you want something more polished than mainstream rivals without moving into luxury-brand pricing. 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers describing the CX-5 as a vehicle they feel good about keeping for the long term. That kind of confidence is reinforced by the strong satisfaction around comfort, quietness, and everyday usability.

The expert assessment also supports that impression by highlighting Mazda’s solid engineering and the model’s overall quality. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the CX-5’s space and technology meet your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mazda CX-5?

Which 2020 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 5 trim levels: GX, GS, GT, GT Turbo, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the core Mazda Connect setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the CX-5 and can live without the extra safety and comfort features found higher up.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist. If you want the strongest mix of price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• GT: This trim adds SiriusXM, navigation, and a 10-speaker Bose sound system, making it a better fit if you want a more premium daily driver.
• GT Turbo: Choose this if you want the turbocharged engine’s extra power and stronger acceleration, along with the upgraded brakes and 8-inch touchscreen.
• Signature: This is the most luxurious version, with premium Nappa leather, real wood, a black headliner, a surround-view camera system, and the most upscale cabin presentation.

The safety package starts with the standard ADAS suite and expands meaningfully at GS, so that trim is the key one to compare carefully.

• Inventory: There are 411 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.33% compared with last year.

What is the 2020 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $23,031 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,685 CAD.

That price movement suggests the CX-5 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if the vehicle is well kept. A softer market can also mean you may need to price competitively when it’s your turn to sell.

Even so, the CX-5’s premium feel and strong owner satisfaction should help it remain appealing to shoppers who want a refined compact SUV. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines premium feel with strong safety and a more upscale position in the compact SUV class.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,594 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $23,031 CAD average.
• It adds enhanced technology and a new Kuro Edition for Canadian buyers.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because pricing has eased and owner satisfaction is strong. If you’re willing to pay more for updated tech, the 2021 is the better alternative.
