That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about where their car fits in the current range. If you buy at the right price now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 is a solid choice if you want a well-liked hatchback with strong owner satisfaction and some pricing softness to work with. If you’re focused on value, this year deserves a close look; if you’re especially price-sensitive, compare it against nearby model years to see whether a lower-priced alternative gives you the features you want for less.
