Used 2020 Ford Escape for Sale near Ontario

How much does the 2020 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 16.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 537 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2020 Ford Escape a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Ford Escape earns a 4.4/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth driving experience, numerous features, and safety technology, and they also highlight its acceleration and comfort. In use, that lines up well with the Escape’s role as a high-tech, handsome, and surprisingly athletic compact crossover that feels more polished than basic transportation.

The main trade-offs are limited cargo space and some compromises around room for taller people, plus a noisy engine under acceleration and mixed feedback on the gearshift design and wireless charging compatibility. Even so, the Escape’s broad appeal makes sense if you want a small SUV that feels modern and well-rounded rather than purely utilitarian.

There are 28.3% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels smooth, feature-rich, and safety-focused, with many drivers describing it as dependable for everyday use. That same theme shows up in the expert assessment, which emphasises a refined, commuter-friendly small SUV that elevates the segment with quality and performance.

Ford also positions the Escape as a well-equipped ownership proposition, with standard safety technology and a strong feature set even on lower trims. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about whether the cabin space and day-to-day usability fit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Escape?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S comes with a 4.2-inch instrument-panel screen, a 4.2-inch centre screen, manually adjustable front seats, and steel wheels, while the SE adds an 8-inch Sync 3 screen, automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a power driver’s seat. The SEL adds fog lamps, black roof racks, a hands-free power liftgate, synthetic upholstery, and a heated steering wheel, while Titanium brings premium touches like a dual-panel moonroof, leather seating, and a premium audio system.
• Powertrain: The Escape offers multiple engine choices, including a 180-horsepower three-cylinder, a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, and hybrid setups. The turbo engine is the strongest choice for brisk acceleration, while the hybrid is the most efficient.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. That standard safety coverage is a major strength, especially on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The base model uses a 4.2-inch screen, while the SE upgrades to an 8-inch Sync 3 touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The latest Sync system also supports over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid returns 5.4 L/100 km in the city, 6.3 L/100 km on the highway, and 5.8 L/100 km combined with FWD, or 5.5/6.4/5.9 with AWD. The 1.5-litre turbo engine returns 8.6/7.1/7.9, or 8.9/7.6/8.3 with AWD, while the 2.0-litre turbo with AWD returns 10.4/7.5/9.1.

Which 2020 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Escape is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SE, SEL, and Titanium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but the small 4.2-inch screen and basic cabin equipment make it feel more stripped down than the rest of the lineup. It makes sense only if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and are comfortable giving up the nicer tech and comfort features.
• SE: This is the best-value trim. It adds the 8-inch Sync 3 touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a power driver’s seat, which makes it the sweet spot for most used buyers.
• SEL: Choose this if you want more convenience and comfort features, including the hands-free liftgate, heated steering wheel, synthetic upholstery, and upgraded exterior details. It is a good step up if you want a more premium feel without going all the way to Titanium.
• Titanium: This is the most upscale version, with premium materials, a dual-panel moonroof, leather seating, and a premium audio system. It suits you best if you want the most feature-rich Escape and are willing to pay for it.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard across the lineup, so even lower trims get a strong safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Escape?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 537 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.20% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,422 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $17,422 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,788 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Escape has moved into a more buyer-friendly position, which can be helpful if you are shopping now but less favourable if you plan to sell soon. A lower current average can mean future resale upside is more limited unless demand stays steady.

The good news for a future seller is that the Escape still has broad appeal thanks to its mix of technology, safety, and multiple powertrain choices. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Escape safe?

The 2020 Ford Escape earned the best overall score of Good from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in all phases of testing.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. That gives you a strong safety package even on lower trims.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year stands out for its redesigned, high-tech, handsome, and surprisingly athletic character, plus multiple powertrain options and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the Escape at its most polished and feature-rich, the 2020 model year is the one to focus on. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, you can still shop selectively and look for a well-priced example, but the 2020’s mix of tech, safety, and driving appeal makes it the stronger all-around pick.
