How much does the 2020 Dodge Challenger cost?

Prices have softened 18.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Dodge Challenger earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.0/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, stylish looks, and comfortable ride, and many owners also highlight the spacious interior and unique design. That lines up well with the Challenger’s retro, driver-focused character and its appeal as a modern muscle car with current technology.

The trade-offs are familiar ones for this kind of coupe: advanced safety features are not standard, and the styling may be polarising. It makes the most sense if you want a coupe that feels different from more forward-looking rivals and still delivers a fun-loving driving experience.

Only 16.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market has some value opportunities but not a flood of them.

Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as powerful, comfortable, and distinctive, and the feedback also points to a car that many owners enjoy living with over time. The expert assessment also frames it as a well-rounded performance car that combines cabin space and creature comforts with strong driving character.

The Challenger’s dependability story is best viewed through used-condition checks, since long-term ownership risk will depend heavily on how well a given example was maintained and whether it was driven hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Dodge Challenger?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SXT starts with 18-inch aluminium wheels, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, a hood scoop, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and unique houndstooth cloth seats. The R/T adds a V8 engine and performance upgrades, while the Scat Pack 392 adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen. The higher trims add more performance and comfort equipment, but the base trim is the one to scrutinise most closely for feature gaps.
• Powertrain: The SXT and GT use a 3.6-litre V6 with 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque, and they are the only trims with an AWD option. The R/T uses a 5.7-litre Hemi V8, the Scat Pack 392 steps up to a 6.4-litre Hemi V8, and the Hellcat variants use supercharged 6.2-litre V8 power. If you want the broadest mix of everyday usability and efficiency, the V6 is the most approachable choice.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, supplemental side curtain airbags, traction control, brake assist, and a child-seat anchoring system. The optional technology group adds forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Other optional safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path alert, and the ParkSense reverse sensing system.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The available Uconnect 8.4 adds a larger screen and Garmin-based navigation with real-time traffic updates. The system is designed around easy-to-use menus, redundant buttons, and dials.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 3.6L Pentastar V6 with rear-wheel drive returns 12.4 L/100 km in city driving, 7.8 on the highway, and 10.3 combined. The V6 with AWD returns 12.8 city, 8.7 highway, and 11.0 combined. The 5.7-litre V8 with the eight-speed automatic returns 14.7 city, 9.4 highway, and 12.3 combined. The least-efficient variant returns 18.6 city, 11.3 highway, and 15.3 combined.

Which 2020 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2020 Dodge Challenger is offered in 9 trim levels: SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack 392, Scat Pack 392 Widebody, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Widebody, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Challenger experience with the 7-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. It is the most sensible starting point if you want the look and feel without chasing higher-performance hardware.
• GT: This trim adds 20-inch wheels, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and unique houndstooth cloth seats. It is a strong value pick if you want a bit more style and convenience without jumping into V8 territory.
• R/T: This is the first V8 trim and adds a 5.7-litre Hemi plus performance upgrades and an active exhaust system. It suits you if you want the classic muscle-car feel and stronger straight-line performance.
• Scat Pack 392: This trim upgrades to a 6.4-litre Hemi V8, adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen, and it is described as the best bet for performance-for-the-dollar. If you want the sweet spot between price and serious performance, this is the one to target.
• Scat Pack 392 Widebody: This version adds flared fenders, wider tires, and a wider track, which improves the Challenger’s cornering confidence. It makes sense if you want the Scat Pack formula with a more aggressive stance and sharper handling.
• SRT Hellcat: This trim brings the supercharged 6.2-litre V8 and huge power, along with the dual-intake hood scoop setup. It is for buyers who want maximum muscle and are willing to accept the trade-offs.
• SRT Hellcat Widebody: This adds the wider body hardware and adaptive suspension on some variants, turning the car into a more modern cornering machine. It is the choice if you want extreme power with more chassis capability.
• SRT Hellcat Redeye: This raises output even further and uses the 8-speed automatic only. It is for buyers who want the most intense straight-line performance in the lineup.
• SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody: This combines the Redeye’s extreme output with the Widebody’s broader stance and handling benefits. It is the top-end choice for shoppers who want the most complete high-performance package.

The safety package is optional rather than standard, so you should prioritise examples equipped with the technology group and other driver-assistance features if safety tech matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Dodge Challenger?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 16.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 66 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.86% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,095 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $38,495 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,440 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively if they want to stand out. The current range still leaves room for well-kept examples to hold value better than neglected ones, especially if they are equipped with desirable trims or options.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger safe?

The 2020 Dodge Challenger earns a Marginal overall score from IIHS and four-star ratings in front driver’s side crash testing and rollover testing from NHTSA, along with five-star ratings for front passenger side testing.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, supplemental side curtain airbags, traction control, brake assist, and a child-seat anchoring system. The optional technology group adds forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path alert, and the ParkSense reverse sensing system are also available.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should look carefully at the equipment list on any used example you are considering.

Should I buy a 2020 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 16.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year is largely unchanged, but it does gain several new colours, some additional interior design choices, and a 50th Anniversary package for some trims.

The bottom line: The 2020 is a smart pick if you want the Challenger’s retro muscle-car character with current tech and a market that has softened from last year. If you are price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years, but the 2020 stands out as a well-liked, broadly appealing version of the formula.
