The current average of $45,665 CAD sits slightly below last year's $49,771 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can be a mixed signal if you plan to sell later. On one hand, softer pricing can make the truck more attractive to current buyers. On the other, it means you may need to price competitively if you want a quick sale. Strong capability and a well-equipped cabin should help keep interest steady among shoppers who need a serious heavy-duty truck.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 24.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2020 if you want a heavy-duty truck with strong capability, a more modern cabin, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2020 remains the better all-around pick when you want capability and equipment together.
