Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, attractive design, and good gas mileage, and many also value its comfortable interior and overall value for money. It suits you well if you want a roomy, easy-to-live-with midsize sedan with a more modern look than many mainstream family cars. Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially those who value comfort and fuel economy. The Malibu’s reliability record is described as better than earlier generations, which is encouraging if you want a used sedan you can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and still feels complete in terms of features and refinement.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 77 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.59% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,727 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $16,798 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,384 CAD.

That drop suggests the Malibu has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry price, but resale gains are likely to be more modest unless the car is especially well kept. The good news is that a model with strong owner satisfaction can still hold buyer interest better than a less-liked rival.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, good-value midsize sedan and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2020 is the better pick when you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current market softness.
