CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Audi Q7
overall

Summary
With 49 currently listed for sale near Concord, ON and an average price of $33,594.00 CAD, 34.7% of 2020 Audi Q7s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Audi Q7 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
100.0% of 2020 Q7 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Audi Q7 stands out as a refreshed midsize luxury SUV that gets a thorough update to its styling, interior, powertrain and technology. Those changes are presented as bringing it in line with other high-end Audi models and helping it stay competitive in its class. For buyers, that means the Q7’s appeal is not just its badge or size, but the sense that Audi has sharpened the whole package rather than focusing on one area alone.
On the road, the 2020 Audi Q7 is described as fun to drive and powered by a strong engine, which gives it a more engaging character than many family-oriented SUVs. It is also positioned as a practical road-trip companion, having been tested on a 1,600-kilometre family journey. At the same time, it is not without compromises: the third row is cramped and cargo space is limited, so shoppers who need maximum passenger or luggage room may find those shortcomings hard to ignore.
Owner feedback reinforces the Q7’s upscale feel, with praise for its luxurious features, smooth and quiet ride, comfort, safety features and driveability, including in snowy conditions. The main criticisms are that it can feel overpriced and that storage options are inadequate, which fits with the test-drive impression that this is a polished luxury SUV with some real-world practicality limits.

In a very short amount of time with this car, it has shown me what a good luxury SUV should and can feel like. Drive is fantastic, interior is no fuss and well put together, outside of the lack of useful "pocket/hidden" storage, it is absolutely a delight to own.

Excellent safety features and a solid vehicle for the ride. You get what you pay for .My prior one was 3 years old and as solid as when it was new. Storage in the front center counsel could be better for women who have purses but otherwise fit/finish and quality shine through. Extended Lexus SUV and Volvo C 90 are close competitors but hate the Lexus front end ( aesthetics ) and Volvo is a box.

I have owned 3 of the Q7s and enjoy the comfort, driveability, and is great in the snow. Other models are the Lexus, which is boring; Honda Pilot not as luxurious and the Lincoln Navigator which is a tank.

Prices have softened 18.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 84 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2020 Audi Q7 a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Audi Q7 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its luxurious features, smooth and quiet ride, comfort, safety features, and drivability. The Q7 is also framed as a family-friendly luxury SUV, and the updated styling, interior, powertrain, and technology help it feel more competitive in the premium midsize segment.
The main trade-offs are a cramped third row and limited cargo space, and the expert review also notes that some of the driver-assistance tech can be aggravating in real-world use.
With 36.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still a meaningful share of attractive inventory to consider.
Is the 2020 Audi Q7 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for a smooth, quiet ride and confidence in snowy conditions. The review summary also highlights the Q7 as a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, especially when comfort and safety matter most.
The expert road test adds that the mild-hybrid system operates transparently and that the SUV feels well sorted in everyday use, which supports the impression of a trouble-free driving experience. Audi also notes that the 48-volt system helps reduce fuel consumption.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic drivability and more about whether you can live with the Q7’s space limitations and potentially costly premium-SUV upkeep.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Audi Q7?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Q7 comes in Komfort, Progressiv, and Technik trims. The test vehicle’s Technik upgrade added standard 21-inch wheels, multi-colour ambient lighting, dual-pane acoustic side window glass, a full-colour head-up display, and a Bose premium sound system, while the base setup is less richly equipped.
- Powertrain: The 55 TFSI uses a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 with 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and Quattro all-wheel drive. Audi Drive Select offers Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, Individual, and Allroad modes.
- Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package includes Emergency Assist, Turn Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Assist with adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assistance, and lane-centring assistance. Some of these features are optional rather than standard, so check equipment carefully.
- Infotainment: The Q7 uses a 10.1-inch upper touchscreen and an 8.6-inch lower touchscreen, plus natural voice recognition, handwriting recognition, wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation, and Audi Connect subscription services.
- Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the Q7 should use 12.0 L/100 km combined, and the road test returned 11.2 L/100 km on a trip and 13.0 L/100 km on a local fuel-testing loop.
Which 2020 Audi Q7 trim should I buy?
The 2020 Audi Q7 is offered in 3 trim levels: Komfort, Progressiv, Technik.
Here's the short version:
- Komfort: This is the entry point if you want the Q7’s core luxury-SUV experience without stretching to the pricier trims. It gives you the basic three-row setup and the refreshed Q7 design, but you give up some of the richer cabin and technology upgrades found higher up.
- Progressiv: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It sits between the base model and the top trim, making it the most natural choice for shoppers who want more comfort and convenience without paying for every available feature.
- Technik: This is the best-equipped version and the one used for the road test. It adds the most upscale and high-tech features, including the adaptive air suspension, head-up display, acoustic glass, ambient lighting, and premium audio, so it suits you best if you want the most polished Q7 experience.
The safety package is available as the Driver Assistance Package, so check whether a used example has it fitted rather than assuming it comes standard.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Audi Q7?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.
- Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 84 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.05% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $33,408 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Audi Q7's resale value?
The current average of $33,448 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,813 CAD.
That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one now, the softer pricing environment can work against you when it is time to sell, especially if your vehicle lacks desirable equipment or presents with higher wear.
On the other hand, the Q7’s strong owner satisfaction and premium positioning help support demand among shoppers looking for a well-equipped luxury SUV. Well-kept examples with the right features should remain easier to move than less desirable trims or poorly equipped listings.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Audi Q7 safe?
The 2020 Audi Q7 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, but its headlights are rated poor by the same organisation.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Audi equips the Q7 with numerous advanced driver-assistance systems, and the available Driver Assistance Package includes Emergency Assist, Turn Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Assist with adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assistance, and lane-centring assistance. The expert review also notes that the Q7’s collision protection is strong overall.
The main caveat is the headlight result, which is a meaningful shortcoming to keep in mind if you drive often at night.
Should I buy a 2020 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.05% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2020 update brings refreshed styling, interior, powertrain, and technology that keep it competitive in the midsize luxury SUV class.
The bottom line: If you want the most updated version of this Q7 generation, the 2020 model is the one to focus on. It gives you the refreshed design, stronger powertrain, and newer tech, while still benefiting from a market that has become more buyer-friendly. If price is your top priority, you can use the softer market to shop carefully and target the best-equipped example you can find.
