CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Audi Q7

Summary
With 127 currently listed for sale and an average price of $19,971 CAD, 28.3% of 2017 Audi Q7s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2017 Audi Q7 stands out as a redesigned, three-row midsize luxury SUV that brought a cleaner, more angular look and a stronger technology story than the model it replaced. It offered a choice of two engines, including a turbocharged 252-horsepower 2.0-litre four-cylinder and a turbocharged 333-hp 3.0-litre V6, with the latter also providing 3,500 kilograms of towing capacity. Audi also gave it matrix-design LED headlights, signature daytime running lights, a power-folding panoramic sunroof, and a cabin that could feel cold and technical but was softened by certain upholstery, lighting, and trim combinations.
Practicality is another major part of its appeal. Every Q7 has three rows of seats, with comfortable and spacious front and second rows, while the third row is smaller and best left for children. Cargo space is generous for the class, with 419 litres behind the third row, 1,061 litres with it folded, and a maximum of 2,027 litres. The 2017 model also marked the first time the Q7 offered apps such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it was described as a technological marvel compared with the previous Q7 in terms of infotainment and driver assistance systems.
There are trade-offs, though. The base turbo four does not provide enough power and its fuel economy fails to impress because it has to work hard, while the Q7’s headlight performance was consistently poor through 2023. Even so, the 2017 Audi Q7 remains appealing for buyers who want a refined, well-equipped luxury SUV with strong road manners, useful towing ability, and a cabin that balances space with advanced features.

Best, highest quality vehicle we have ever owned - have owned most all other German brands, but this is our first Audi. We did our research & test drives and the Q7 was the best combination of power, safety, style, 7 seats (a must for us) and off the charts solid, luxury vehicle. There is nothing I dont like about my 2017 Q7. Really looking forward to a long road trip!

Stunning interior and super tech heavy. At first the interior technology seemed a little daunting, but with a little time behind the wheel became 2nd nature and appreciated. Incredibly smooth ride and the ability to change drive modes changes the cars personality which is really fun. I am not a fan of the engine auto on/off function while in traffic or at a stop light. Thankfully you get the option to shut that off. Love this car overall. It can be pricey, but there seem to be some decent deals out there on low mileage used vehicles if you are patient.

2017 Audi Q7 Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2017 Audi Q7 prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2017 Audi Q7 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $19,902 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $19,641 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $23,676 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $23,902 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −16.74% |
Prices have softened 16.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 127 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2017 Audi Q7 a good car?
Yes — the 2017 Audi Q7 earns a 4.78/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its luxurious interior, performance, and advanced technology, and many also like its smooth ride and capable handling in different drive modes. For you, that makes it a compelling choice if you want a refined three-row luxury SUV with useful space and a strong technology story. With 28.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some market opportunity if you shop carefully.
Is the 2017 Audi Q7 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its smooth ride, performance, and overall quality. That said, some owners mention concerns with fuel consumption and a few convenience features, so you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and how the vehicle has been used. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dissatisfaction and more about making sure the specific example you choose has been cared for properly.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Audi Q7?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you focus on well-priced examples.
- Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 127 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 16.74% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $19,641 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Audi Q7's resale value?
The current average of $19,902 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,902 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Q7 more attractive to buyers today but less favourable for a future seller trying to recover a higher purchase price. If you buy at the current average, your resale position will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance records. Strong examples should still hold interest because the model has broad appeal in the luxury three-row segment.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 16.74% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a three-row luxury SUV with strong owner approval, useful space, and a softer used-market price, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a similar example offers a better deal, but the 2017 already looks attractive if you find one in good condition and priced near the lower end of the range.
