Summary
With 68 currently listed for sale and an average price of $26,605 CAD, 30.9% of 2020 Acura TLXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Acura TLX 4.62 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2020 Acura TLX stands out as a luxury sport sedan that still leans into Acura’s enthusiast image. In all-wheel-drive form, it is described as the kind of car that can make a familiar road feel engaging again, and Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system is singled out as the setup that helps the TLX deliver that experience. That focus on driving enjoyment is a key part of what makes the 2020 TLX distinctive, especially for buyers who want a premium sedan that is meant to be driven with some enthusiasm.
It also has practical appeal because it offers multiple powertrain options and is presented as excellent value for money. At the same time, it is not portrayed as a perfect package. The main drawbacks called out are poor ergonomic design and outdated technology, which suggest that the TLX’s strengths are more about its driving character and value than about a cutting-edge cabin. Owner feedback broadly echoes that split, with praise for the smooth ride, handling, and overall features, alongside criticism of the interior layout and some controls.

All the features you would expect to have in a new car today. Luxury car brand come standard with features like all leather interior with more comfortable seats at the base trim level. V6 engine in this sedan gives the car a good power to weight ratio and easily runs through all gears in the 9 speed transmission. Always feel like there is more power available, in each gear when driving in the highway.

| Year-Round High | $29,469 CAD |

There are 67 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.
Is the 2020 Acura TLX a good car?
Yes — 4.62/5 owners’ rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 6.83/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners commonly praise the smooth ride, handling, and overall features, and many also like the appealing exterior design and powerful engine. For buyers who want a premium sedan with an enthusiast lean, the TLX’s driving character and value proposition are central to its appeal.
The trade-offs are clear: the cabin layout and controls can feel less intuitive, and some shoppers feel the performance does not fully match the luxury-sedan price point. That matters most if you want a polished, modern interior more than a car that rewards an engaging drive.
With its focus on driving enjoyment and value, it suits you best if you want a used luxury sport sedan that feels more engaging than average. 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Acura TLX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers find dependable and trouble-free enough to recommend, with praise centred on the smooth ride, handling, and overall ownership experience. The expert assessment also frames the TLX as a car that can be easy to like over the long term because of its value, strong driving character, and well-rounded appeal.
There is also a maintenance-related upside in the expert commentary: the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright mechanical drama and more about living with the TLX’s ageing ergonomics and technology.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura TLX?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The A-Spec option package adds 19-inch wheels, revised bumper designs, side sill skirts, and oversize round exhaust outlets, while the Technology Package is recommended for its comfort, convenience, safety, and infotainment enhancements. If you want the best-value setup, the SH-AWD with Technology Package is the one to prioritise.
- Powertrain: Front-wheel-drive models use a 206-horsepower, 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while SH-AWD versions use a 290-hp, 3.5-litre V6 with a nine-speed automatic. The V6 delivers smooth, steady power, and SH-AWD is a major part of the TLX’s engaging road feel.
- Safety package: Every TLX has adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and road-departure mitigation. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is included on all but the base TLX with no option packages.
- Infotainment: The TLX uses dual screens, with a non-touch top display and a touchscreen lower display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and an on-board navigation system is optional.
- Fuel efficiency: On the test loop, the TLX returned 10.2 litres per 100 kilometres, and Natural Resources Canada says it should consume 10.3 L/100 km in combined driving for non-A-Spec SH-AWD models and FWD models, with lower figures for some versions.
Which 2020 Acura TLX trim should I buy?
The 2020 Acura TLX is offered in 3 trim levels: TLX, TLX with Technology Package, TLX with Technology Package and A-Spec.
Here's the short version:
- TLX: This is the entry point, but it is also the one most likely to leave you wanting more because blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not included here. It makes sense only if you are focused on the lowest possible price.
- TLX with Technology Package: This is the best-value choice because it adds the comfort, convenience, safety, and infotainment upgrades CarGurus recommends. If you want the most balanced used TLX, this is the trim to target.
- TLX with Technology Package and A-Spec: Choose this if you want the sportiest appearance, with 19-inch wheels, revised bumpers, side sill skirts, and oversize round exhaust outlets. It is the right pick if styling matters as much as equipment.
The safety package is strongest once you move beyond the base TLX, since blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is included on all but the base car with no option packages.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura TLX?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 67 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.77% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $26,231 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Acura TLX's resale value?
The current average of $26,309 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,485 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the TLX has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means the market is currently valuing this model year more conservatively than it did a year ago.
If you buy well now, there may be less room for further steep drops than there was before. Still, resale will depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the car’s equipment and driving character continue to appeal to used shoppers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Acura TLX safe?
The 2020 Acura TLX does not qualify for a Top Safety Pick due to an Acceptable rather than Good result in the small overlap frontal-impact test on the driver’s side. It earns five-star ratings in every test conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), including the rollover test.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Every TLX includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and road-departure mitigation. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is included on all but the base TLX with no option packages.
The main caveat is that the driver-assistance systems can feel less refined than those in newer vehicles, and the IIHS result keeps it from reaching the top tier of crash-test recognition.
Should I buy a 2020 Acura TLX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.77% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2020 stands out for SH-AWD-driven handling and strong value.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $31,142 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $26,309 CAD average.
- It brings a new platform, exterior, interior, and powertrain choices.
The bottom line: If you want the better value and are drawn to the TLX’s enthusiast character, the 2020 is the smarter buy. If you are willing to pay more for a newer-generation design and a fresh mechanical foundation, the 2021 is the upgrade path to consider.
