Why it stands out
The 2019 Toyota Tundra stands out as part of a long-running second generation that earned a reputation for durability and strong resale value. By this point in the generation, Toyota had standardised Toyota Safety Sense-P across the lineup, adding adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning, and the TRD Sport package was also available. That combination makes the 2019 model appealing to buyers who want a full-size truck with a proven track record and a useful set of safety features.
It also benefits from the second generation’s broad range of configurations and practical hardware. The truck was available with three bed lengths, three cab configurations, and either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, while the 5.7-litre V8 was the sole powertrain by 2020. Toyota also gave this generation a useful mid-cycle refresh in 2014 with a new front end, a redesigned tailgate, a new interior, and an improved infotainment system, which helps explain why later examples still feel more modern than many older full-size trucks.
At the same time, the Tundra is not without compromises. The source notes that interior quality has often been called cheap, that there is no diesel option, and that forward visibility is poor. Even so, the 2019 Toyota Tundra remains attractive for shoppers who value a tough, long-lasting truck with strong towing credentials and a reputation for holding its value well.

i have had a 2012 Tundra and 2017. They are a beast of a truck with soo much room. Two things i would change and thats probably it. They NAVIGATION system is the weakest on the market. The screen and apps are actually really bad. Reason why i didnt purchase another one in December. The second would be the gas mileage. I guess that comes with the beefiness of the truck. If the Nav was better, i would trade my truck in tomorrow to get another one.

If the technology inside was updated, I’d give it 5 stars. A little bulky but definitely a work mule of a truck.

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 67 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.
Is the 2019 Toyota Tundra a good car?
Yes — the 4.64/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its solid reliability, spacious cabin, and comfortable ride, while also highlighting its strong towing capability and powerful performance. For you, that makes it a sensible fit if you want a full-size truck that prioritises durability and long-haul usefulness over the newest tech. With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Toyota Tundra reliable?
Owners rate it 4.64/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback repeatedly describes it as reliable, solid, and dependable, with owners saying it feels like a truck you can count on over time. The broader appeal is tied to its long-term durability and reputation for trouble-free ownership, especially if you value a vehicle built for extended use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that age-related wear may matter more than mechanical reputation, so condition and maintenance history should carry extra weight.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Tundra?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 67 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $38,190 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Toyota Tundra's resale value?
The current average of $43,121 CAD sits slightly above last year's $42,969 CAD.
That small increase suggests the market has remained stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern usually means you are less likely to face a sharp drop in value over a short ownership period. For you, that makes the Tundra a relatively predictable truck to own if resale matters.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $45,117 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $43,121 CAD average.
- It adds a stronger emphasis on long-term reliability.
The bottom line:
Choose the 2019 if you want a steadier price point and a truck with proven owner satisfaction. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2019 is the better starting point; if you are willing to pay more for the next model year, the 2020 is the alternative to compare.
