That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect the Tacoma to remain relatively well supported, but not necessarily immune to normal depreciation. Because the model still has a strong reputation with owners, demand should stay healthier than average when you eventually resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 24.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $40,143 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $38,068 CAD average.
• It adds updated design and technology.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and are comfortable with the Tacoma’s established formula. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2019 is the stronger buy; if you want the newer-year updates and can stretch your budget, the 2020 is worth a look.
