Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, long-lasting performance, and a truck you can count on over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying a premium for a truck that may still have minor issues or wear consistent with age and use.

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers: there is enough inventory to compare options, but the best-priced listings may move quickly.

• Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 95 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.92% compared with last year.

What is the 2016 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $28,611 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,415 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now if you plan to keep the truck for several years. For a future seller, the softer current average may mean less upside than in a stronger market, but the Tacoma’s reputation for durability and owner satisfaction still supports demand. Because shoppers continue to value this model for reliability and resale strength, it should remain easier to move than many other used mid-size trucks.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the updated feel of the 2016 model year and you value the Tacoma’s durability and resale reputation, this is a sensible year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, equipment, and asking price.
