Is the 2019 Subaru WRX a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Subaru WRX earns a 4.3/5 user rating, and its appeal is strongest if you want a practical sports car with rally-bred character. The overview points to standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged Boxer engine, and a driving experience aimed at enthusiasts who still need everyday usability. It also benefits from a sedan-only body style, more interior space, better fuel efficiency, and a stiffer chassis, while the main trade-offs are outdated technology, a cramped back seat in older models, and poor fuel economy.

With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2019 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests the WRX’s appeal comes from a proven formula rather than novelty: standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged engine, and a chassis tuned for engaging driving. For used buyers, that means the bigger ownership risk is usually tied to how the car was driven and maintained over time, so condition matters a lot.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 102 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.07% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,972 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $21,295 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,498 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale upside may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, buying well today matters more than usual because your eventual return will depend heavily on how much room you leave between purchase price and market average. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,945 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $21,295 CAD average.
• It adds broader appeal with more everyday-driver polish and stronger safety and tech coverage.

The bottom line:
The 2019 is the better starting point if you want the strongest value and a wider pool of discounted listings. If you can stretch for the 2020, it may be worth it for buyers who want a slightly more refined all-round package, but price-sensitive shoppers should focus on the 2019.
