CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Subaru Legacy
Summary
With 50 currently listed for sale and an average price of $18,204 CAD, 30.0% of 2019 Subaru Legacy listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Subaru Legacy 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Subaru Legacy stands out as a midsize sedan that puts all-wheel drive at the centre of its appeal. Subaru’s standard AWD system remained across the lineup, and the model also offered a reputation for strong safety equipment and a comfortable, refined driving experience. For buyers shopping used, that combination makes it an uncommon choice among family sedans, especially if traction and all-weather confidence matter more than flash.
For this generation, the Legacy also brought a more advanced cabin and a broader spread of technology than earlier versions. The 2019 model year sat within the sixth generation, where Subaru’s EyeSight safety suite was more widely available, and the 2018 refresh had already added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through the Subaru Starlink infotainment system. Standard equipment on the 2.5i included a 6.2-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth streaming, USB and aux inputs, a backup camera, and 17-inch steel wheels, while Touring models added features such as a sunroof, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, fog lights, and a six-speaker stereo. That makes the 2019 Legacy appealing to buyers who want a practical sedan with useful everyday tech rather than a sporty personality.
There are trade-offs, though. The source describes the Legacy as having dull styling, a cheap-feeling interior, and sluggish performance, so it is not the most exciting option in its class. Even so, its standard AWD, broad safety availability, and relatively accessible used pricing help explain why it remains a sensible pick for shoppers who value security and comfort over drama.

Beautiful car! Drives beautifully, has all the bells and whistles that work intuitively, I just love it. I have owned many many cars over the years, including an Audi, and this is the nicest car Ive had.

I currently own a 2019 Subaru Legacy Limited. The car has seat memory, which is a must for me and my limitations. The car also has a CD player which most of the car companies are no longer putting on their vehicles.

Is the 2019 Subaru Legacy a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Subaru Legacy earns a 5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a practical midsize sedan. The overview points to standard all-wheel drive, strong safety equipment, and a comfortable, refined driving experience, so it makes sense if you value traction and all-weather confidence more than flash. It also offers a broader spread of technology than earlier versions, including useful everyday features that suit family and commuter use. 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Subaru Legacy reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview also highlights standard all-wheel drive and a strong safety focus, both of which can be reassuring if you plan to keep the car for years. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Legacy’s strengths are more about comfort and security than excitement, so you should prioritise condition and maintenance history over appearance alone.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru Legacy?
This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.
- Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 51 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.77% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $16,897 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Subaru Legacy's resale value?
The current average of $18,077 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,488 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Legacy has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady if you decide to sell later. The year-round range also shows there is still a defined ceiling for well-priced examples, so clean, well-kept cars should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.77% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want a used midsize sedan with standard all-wheel drive, useful tech, and a comfort-first personality. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year with lower pricing may be worth a look, but the 2019 remains the better fit when traction, safety, and everyday practicality matter most.
