CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Honda Odyssey
Summary
With 20 currently listed for sale and an average price of $32,226 CAD, 25.0% of 2019 Honda Odyssey listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Honda Odyssey 4.95 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Honda Odyssey stands out as a family minivan that blends practicality with a more car-like driving feel than many buyers expect. It uses Honda’s 3.5-litre J-Series V6, which makes 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, and it is paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. Honda also gave this generation a stronger body structure with more ultra-high-strength steel, aluminium, and magnesium, which helped reduce weight and improve rigidity. The result is a van that aims to feel quieter, more solid, and easier to live with than a typical boxy people mover.
What makes the 2019 Honda Odyssey especially appealing is how much equipment it offers for families. Even the basic EX-L includes the Honda Sensing suite with adaptive safety technology, plus seating for seven, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a moonroof, a power tailgate, leather seating, CabinTalk, a rear-seat entertainment system, and Magic Slide second-row seats for better access to the back. Higher trims can add ventilated front seats, a hands-free power tailgate, an 11-speaker audio system, leather piping, wireless phone charging, and the CabinWatch camera system. That breadth of features helps explain why it remains attractive to shoppers who want comfort, convenience, and safety in one package.
There are a few trade-offs, though. The Odyssey does not offer all-wheel drive or a hybrid version, and its fuel consumption is not especially impressive for the class. Early examples from this generation have also drawn complaints about electrical glitches, infotainment issues, and transmission problems, so a careful test drive and maintenance history are important. Even so, the 2019 Honda Odyssey remains a well-equipped, versatile minivan with a strong reputation for family use.

How much does the 2019 Honda Odyssey cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,746 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $27,746 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $31,784 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $31,784 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −12.70% |
Prices have softened 12.70% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 219 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Honda Odyssey a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.95/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, comfort, and family-friendly feature set, including safety technology and convenience equipment. It also fits well if you want a practical minivan with a more car-like driving feel and a cabin built around everyday family use. With 27.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Honda Odyssey reliable?
Owners rate it 4.95/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, especially around comfort, practicality, and day-to-day usability. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance records and a thorough test drive, since long-term ownership risk can rise if electrical, infotainment, or transmission concerns were not addressed properly.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Odyssey?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right example.
- Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 219 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.70% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $27,746 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Honda Odyssey's resale value?
The current average of $27,746 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,784 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the van more appealing to you as a buyer today but may limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect value better than someone who pays near the top of the range. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.95/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.70% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.95/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a well-equipped family minivan with strong owner approval and a softer price than a year ago, the 2019 is a sensible target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the newest badge.
