What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Mustang?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Bullitt is based on a Mustang GT Premium coupe with the Performance Pack, and it adds distinctive styling touches such as Highland Green paint, a blacked-out grille, unique badging, chrome trim, a cue-ball shifter, digital gauges, and Bullitt-specific 19-inch aluminium wheels. It also includes a special exhaust and GT350 intake, while the Bullitt Electronics Package adds blind-spot monitoring, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, a driver memory system, and voice-activated touchscreen navigation.
• Powertrain: You get a nearly 500-hp V8 with a six-speed manual transmission, adaptive dampers, and a more aggressive rear end. The Bullitt is not offered with the 10-speed automatic found on other Mustang models.
• Safety package: The Bullitt Electronics Package adds blind-spot monitoring, and the car also includes a rearview camera. The safety content notes that the Bullitt improves braking over the standard Mustang.
• Infotainment: The car uses Sync 3 infotainment, with Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The Bullitt Electronics Package adds voice-activated navigation and an upgraded 12-speaker stereo.
• Fuel efficiency: Estimates of 16.1 L/100 km in the city and 9.9 L/100 km on the highway are stated for this powertrain.

Here's the short version:

The Bullitt: This is the only trim described here, and it is the one to focus on if you want the special-edition styling, stronger soundtrack, and added performance hardware. Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Mustang?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 159 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.87% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,870 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $29,022 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,163 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be harder to realise quickly. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is equipped. Special-edition appeal can help support demand, especially for buyers who want a distinctive Mustang rather than a standard example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2019 Ford Mustang earns five-star ratings in every category from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded it an Acceptable rating for the driver’s side small overlap test and a Marginal rating for the child safety latches.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Bullitt Electronics Package adds blind-spot monitoring, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, a driver memory system, and voice-activated touchscreen navigation. The car also includes a rearview camera, and the Bullitt improves braking over the standard Mustang.

The IIHS results include a couple of caveats, so you should pay attention to the safety equipment on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The Bullitt adds special-edition styling, extra power, and GT350-derived hardware.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $25,005 CAD, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $29,022 CAD average.
• It offers a more polished, sophisticated Mustang with broader mainstream appeal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $37,630 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $29,022 CAD average.
• It broadens powertrain choice and adds a more future-facing Mustang role.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive and enthusiast-focused choice, the 2019 Bullitt is the clear pick. If price matters more than exclusivity, the 2018 is the better value path.
