Is the 2019 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Ford Mustang earns a 4.86/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its power, style, and comfortable ride, and many also call it fun to drive with strong handling. For you, that means this Mustang fits best if you want a sporty coupe with personality and driving enjoyment rather than maximum practicality. The limited back seat space is the main trade-off, but the market still shows 34.7% of listings as good or great deals.

Is the 2019 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter to enthusiasts: strong power, enjoyable handling, and a driving experience owners are happy to live with over time. The expert assessment also highlights a forgiving clutch, rev-matching for downshifts, and hill-holding, which all support easy day-to-day use. If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about whether the car’s sporty layout and limited space suit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Mustang?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Bullitt stands apart with its Highland Green paint, blacked-out grille, unique badging, chrome trim, cue-ball shifter, digital gauges, and Bullitt-specific 19-inch aluminium wheels. It also adds a special exhaust and the intake from the Shelby GT350, while the base GT Premium foundation means you should check which premium and performance features are included on the car you’re considering.
• Powertrain: This version uses a nearly 500-hp V8 with a six-speed manual transmission, and it does not offer the four-cylinder turbo engine or the 10-speed automatic found on other Mustang models. The Bullitt-specific intake and exhaust add power and a stronger soundtrack.
• Safety package: The Bullitt Electronics Package adds blind-spot monitoring, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, a driver memory system, and voice-activated touchscreen navigation. Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, a rearview camera, and Sync 3, while Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also recommended to check for.
• Infotainment: Look for the newest version of Sync 3, plus the available voice-activated navigation system, upgraded 12-speaker stereo, and smartphone connectivity. The screen-based performance features also include line-lock, track timers, drag mode, and unique gauge layouts.
• Fuel efficiency: The Bullitt is estimated at 16.1 L/100 km in the city and 9.9 L/100 km on the highway.

Which 2019 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2019 Ford Mustang is offered in 1 trim level: Bullitt.

Here's the short version:

The Bullitt is the clear choice if you want the most distinctive 2019 Mustang experience, with special styling, extra power, and a more exclusive feel than a standard GT Premium. It adds the Shelby GT350 intake and a special exhaust, which gives you more performance and a stronger soundtrack, while the available Bullitt Electronics Package brings useful convenience and safety upgrades. If you want the best-value path, this is the trim to focus on because it bundles the key Bullitt-specific equipment rather than asking you to build it up piece by piece.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Bullitt Electronics Package adds blind-spot monitoring, and the car also includes a rearview camera and other standard tech features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 167 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.26% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,870 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $29,653 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,974 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests future sellers may face a more competitive market if supply stays healthy. A model that has already moved down from its prior-year average can be harder to resell at a premium unless it has the right trim, condition, and equipment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2019 Ford Mustang earns five-star ratings in every category from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded it an Acceptable rating for the driver’s side small overlap test and a Marginal rating for the child safety latches.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Bullitt also benefits from improved braking over the standard Mustang, stopping several metres sooner from highway speed. Safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring when equipped with the Bullitt Electronics Package, plus a rearview camera and other standard tech features. The main caveat is the IIHS result for the driver’s side small overlap test and the Marginal rating for the child safety latches.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The Bullitt adds exclusive styling, extra power, and a special-edition feel.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $24,644 CAD, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $29,653 CAD average.
• It feels more polished and sophisticated than before.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $37,278 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $29,653 CAD average.
• It offers multiple powertrain choices and strong value for money.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive and enthusiast-focused choice, the 2019 Bullitt is the one to target. If your priority is saving money, the 2018 is the better budget path, while the 2020 makes sense if you want a broader Mustang lineup and are willing to pay more.
