Is the 2019 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 4.89/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the blend of sportiness and luxury, along with the fun-to-drive feel and well-designed cabin. The intuitive interface and heads-up display also stand out, while the 2019 model’s polished, upscale driving experience makes sense if you want a midsize luxury sedan with some performance character. With 36.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive example.

Is the 2019 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.89/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because it is described as fun to drive and well designed. The summary also highlights the intuitive technology and heads-up display, which can make day-to-day use feel more seamless. For used buyers, that suggests the bigger ownership risk is less about broad dissatisfaction and more about finding a well-kept example with a clean maintenance history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW 5 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 76 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.34% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,209 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW 5 Series' resale value?

The current average of $30,209 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,407 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less favourable if you plan to sell soon. If you own one for the long term, the softer current pricing may limit near-term resale upside unless your car is especially well equipped or exceptionally maintained. Even so, the model’s broad appeal and luxury-sedan positioning should help it remain relevant with used shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.89/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2019 is a strong choice if you want a refined midsize luxury sedan with a good owner satisfaction record and a market that currently favours careful shoppers. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2019 stands out as the cleaner buy when you want a balance of value, satisfaction, and current deal availability.
