The current average of $14,144 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,433 CAD.

That softer pricing can be a mixed signal if you're thinking about future resale, because today's lower entry point may limit how much room there is for appreciation. On the other hand, it can help you buy at a more favourable starting point if you plan to own the car for several years. If market conditions stay steady, a well-kept example should remain reasonably easy to position for sale.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen or consider a different year?
