Is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating suggests you’re looking at a well-liked compact crossover. Owners consistently point to its quality, safety features, and smooth driving experience, and many appreciate the solid feel of the vehicle along with Subaru’s EyeSight technology. That lines up well with the Crosstrek’s use case as a practical, all-wheel-drive crossover for everyday driving, bad-weather commuting, and light utility. The market also shows 36.6% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

The owner feedback also leans toward dependable, trouble-free ownership, with praise for the car’s quality and the confidence that comes from Subaru’s safety-minded design. That said, some shoppers do question value and note the engine’s modest output, so the main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is making sure you’re comfortable with the Crosstrek’s performance trade-offs before you commit.

What is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $17,884 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,252 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar right away. Even so, the Crosstrek’s steady appeal as a practical, all-wheel-drive crossover helps support demand. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should still have a reasonable path to resale later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the newer cabin, added tech, and the more modern feel of this generation, the 2018 is the stronger pick.
