CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Summary
With 185 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,072 CAD, 34.6% of 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class stands out as a compact luxury car that blends upscale presentation with strong performance and a broad range of body styles. In this generation, Mercedes gave the C-Class a more dramatic shape, made it lighter than before, and kept its rear-wheel-drive character with 4Matic all-wheel drive optional. The lineup also covered a wide spread of personalities, from the C 300 to the C 400 and AMG variants, while the cabin leaned heavily on S-Class-inspired design and richer materials. For buyers, that combination of prestige, style, and available performance is a big part of the appeal.
The 2018 model year also benefits from a well-equipped interior and useful technology. Standard equipment included a 7-inch touchscreen with Mercedes’s MBUX infotainment system, while an 8.4-inch unit was optional and later standard on most higher trims. Mercedes also offered optional driver-assistance features such as active blind spot assistance and adaptive cruise control, and the car earned “Top Safety Pick+” designations from IIHS in four out of the seven years it was on sale. At the same time, the C-Class was not perfect: rear-seat space was only average for the class, the trunk was modest at 356 litres in the sedan, and the infotainment system could be a bit complex to learn.
For shoppers, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is appealing because it delivers a genuine luxury-car feel without abandoning everyday usability. It offers a polished cabin, strong engine choices, and the kind of styling that still feels special. The trade-offs are worth noting, though: reliability is mixed, and owner complaints in this generation often centre on electrical issues and infotainment or display-screen problems. Even so, for buyers who want a compact Mercedes with style, technology, and a premium atmosphere, the 2018 C-Class remains a compelling choice.

Vehicle is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable, interior materials are high end and look amazing. My only issue are those 19” Continental flat run tires… They don’t offer a smooth ride and potholes are a nightmare .

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class a good car?
Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the luxurious interior, stylish design, and impressive performance, while many also highlight the power and handling, especially in sport mode. For you, that makes this a strong fit if you want a compact luxury car with a premium feel and everyday usability. With 33.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market.
Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers find dependable enough to enjoy over time, especially when they value the upscale cabin and strong performance. At the same time, this generation has a mixed reliability reputation, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and any signs of electrical or infotainment issues. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you shop carefully and verify the car’s condition.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 314 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.34% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $24,551 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class's resale value?
The current average of $25,374 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,091 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests you should focus on condition, service records, and desirable equipment to protect value. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.34% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $23,198 CAD, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $25,374 CAD average.
- It offers an accessible, well-balanced entry into the C-Class formula.
The bottom line: Choose the 2018 if you want the stronger current-market mix of value, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the better price-sensitive alternative.
