Is the 2018 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Kia Soul earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability and great value for the price, and many also highlight its enjoyable style and features. That fits the Soul’s use case well if you want a practical, distinctive subcompact hatchback that still feels useful for everyday driving. With 37.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2018 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to reliability and great value, which is encouraging if you want a used vehicle you can count on. Some owners did mention limited space between the accelerator and brake pedals and the absence of a spare tyre, so it is worth checking those details during a test drive and pre-purchase inspection. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dependability and more about making sure the specific example has been maintained well and suits your comfort needs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 132 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.30% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,425 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $11,498 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,576 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can be a challenge if you are planning to sell soon. If you buy now, you may be entering at a lower point than previous owners did, which can help reduce your upfront cost but may also limit short-term resale upside. On the other hand, the Soul’s strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal can help support demand when it is time to list it again.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Kia Soul is a strong pick if you want a practical, distinctive used hatchback with solid owner approval and a softer price than it had a year ago. If your priority is value, this model year deserves a close look. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a similar Soul offers a better deal or a feature set that suits you more closely.
