I was already familiar with Hyundai Santa Fes. I think Hyundai offers more for the money compared to other models...at least for now. Until they become popular. Other comparable models are other mid-dized SUVs such as Toyota Hylander, Ford Explorer, Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Equinox, Subaru Forester, Nissan Pathfinder, Honda Passport, Honda CR-V.... For me, I do not care about the gadgets and exxtra, I only care about reliability and getting the best used car value for the money. So the Santa Fe is more than I need. If I was driving around the city I would look at the Santa Fe Sport. For a general mid-range the Santa Fe SE. For a little more style and comfort thecSanta Fe Ultimate Limited

The only thing I wish this car had was a sunroof! But it has the racks and all the bells and whistles that we want/need. So much room and space

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is a good fit if you want a practical, family-focused SUV with a 4.5/5 user rating. The 2018 model’s third-generation design gave it a bigger, more versatile footprint, and it could be had with three rows of seats. That extra seating, plus the available rear-seat comfort and generous legroom, makes it especially appealing if you need space for passengers rather than a sportier drive.
It also brings a broad spread of equipment and powertrains, so you can shop for the version that best suits your needs. The trade-off is that its steering and handling were described as sloppy, so it is not the sharpest SUV to drive. Even so, it is generally safe and well equipped, which makes it a sensible choice if practicality, seating flexibility, and features matter more to you than sporty road manners. 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is described as generally safe and well equipped, with a practical layout and a wide range of available features that support everyday use. Its appeal comes from being a family-oriented SUV with useful space and flexible seating, rather than from any especially complex or performance-focused setup.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a vehicle built around comfort and utility can still carry the usual age-related wear items, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how well the vehicle has been kept.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

- 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe makes the most sense if you want a practical, well-equipped SUV with flexible seating and family-friendly space. If your priority is value and you like the idea of a three-row setup, the 2018 is the better path. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years for a lower entry cost before deciding.
