I was already familiar with Hyundai Santa Fes. I think Hyundai offers more for the money compared to other models...at least for now. Until they become popular. Other comparable models are other mid-dized SUVs such as Toyota Hylander, Ford Explorer, Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Equinox, Subaru Forester, Nissan Pathfinder, Honda Passport, Honda CR-V.... For me, I do not care about the gadgets and exxtra, I only care about reliability and getting the best used car value for the money. So the Santa Fe is more than I need. If I was driving around the city I would look at the Santa Fe Sport. For a general mid-range the Santa Fe SE. For a little more style and comfort thecSanta Fe Ultimate Limited

The only thing I wish this car had was a sunroof! But it has the racks and all the bells and whistles that we want/need. So much room and space

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is a good fit if you want a practical, family-focused SUV with a 4.5/5 user rating. The third-generation Santa Fe is described as more polished and more versatile than earlier versions, with a larger footprint, available three-row seating, and generous legroom that make it especially useful for hauling people and cargo.
It also gives you a broad spread of equipment and powertrains, so you can choose the setup that best matches your needs. If you value space, seating flexibility, and a strong list of available features more than sporty handling, this Santa Fe makes a compelling case. 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is described as generally safe and well equipped, with a practical layout and a wide range of available features that support everyday use. Its appeal comes more from usefulness and comfort than from excitement, which can be a positive sign for buyers who want a straightforward family SUV.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you should expect a vehicle whose strengths are practicality and equipment rather than especially sharp driving dynamics.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.
- Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 230 listings available.
That combination suggests you can be choosy about condition, mileage, and equipment while still finding a reasonable number of options.
Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is the better choice if you want a practical, well-equipped SUV with flexible seating and a strong ownership reputation. If your priority is stretching your budget further, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced examples with the equipment you need.
