Is the 2018 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Chevrolet Trax earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It is positioned as a small, practical, easy-to-live-with subcompact SUV that blends a higher driving position with city-friendly manoeuvrability and sedan-like fuel efficiency. For you, that makes it a sensible fit if you want affordable everyday transportation with useful packaging and available smartphone integration. The market also shows 30.4% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Trax’s appeal is rooted in practicality and ease of use, with useful equipment and a straightforward small-SUV formula. Its early-year performance was only adequate, and some safety equipment was still optional rather than standard across the range, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and equipment level when shopping used. For long-term ownership, that means the biggest risk is not a dramatic mechanical story so much as finding a well-kept example with the features and condition you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Trax?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 102 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.46% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,672 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $13,076 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,443 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Trax has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than they would have a year ago. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to protect value when it is time to sell. The model’s practical appeal should help sustain interest, especially among shoppers looking for an affordable city SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a budget-conscious, city-friendly small SUV with useful equipment and a strong satisfaction signal, the 2018 Trax is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you can also compare nearby years for the best-priced example, but the 2018 stands out as a balanced choice for shoppers who value practicality and current market softness.
