Is the 2018 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Chevrolet Trax earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It is positioned as a practical, budget-friendly subcompact SUV that gives you a higher driving position, useful space, and the manoeuvrability and fuel efficiency of a sedan. The 2018 Trax is described as a straightforward, sensible choice that prioritises practicality, compact size, and useful features over outright power or luxury. It also benefited from updates that added smartphone integration and improved available safety equipment, which helps it feel more modern than earlier versions. For a used buyer, the main long-term ownership risk is that its performance is only adequate, so you should focus on condition and maintenance history rather than expecting strong acceleration.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Trax?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 91 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.74% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,659 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $13,029 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,762 CAD.

That decline suggests the Trax has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. The model's value proposition is still tied to affordability, compact size, and everyday usability, so well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Because the market is already showing softer pricing, resale strength will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Trax is the better pick if you want a practical, budget-friendly subcompact SUV with modernised features and a market that currently favours careful shoppers. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year with similar equipment may also be worth comparing, but the 2018 stands out as a balanced choice when you want value, usability, and decent deal availability.
