Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be choosy without waiting forever for the right car.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
• Inventory: There are 92 listings available, which gives you enough selection to compare prices and equipment.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.18% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,692 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $13,441 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,799 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened enough to create a more approachable entry point for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the upper end of the range. The model’s broad appeal as a comfortable, efficient midsize sedan should help support steady demand, even if it is not the strongest resale performer in its class.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a roomy, comfortable, and good-value midsize sedan with strong owner approval, the 2018 Malibu is the year to focus on. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a similar car offers a lower asking price, but the 2018 stands out as a sensible primary target when you want a balanced mix of value, comfort, and buyer confidence.
