Is the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan is a mixed but appealing choice if you want a compact SUV with a more premium feel than many rivals, and its user rating is 3.5/5. Owners commonly praise its smooth driving experience, premium interior, and decent gas mileage, while also appreciating its compact size and handling. It can make sense if you value a polished drive and a nicer cabin over maximum space or the latest technology, and the market shows 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan stands out as a compact SUV that aimed for a more premium feel than many rivals. It was pitched as a slightly sportier, more premium alternative to vehicles such as the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4, and it was conceived with a smooth and responsive drive in mind.

That said, owners and shoppers should pay close attention to long-term ownership risk, since used examples can carry repair exposure that makes a thorough inspection especially important.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully and wait for the right example.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 382 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.48% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,247 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $13,638 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,763 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and maintenance history than to broad market momentum. If you keep the vehicle well maintained, you may be better positioned to protect value when it is time to sell.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.48% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2017 Tiguan makes the most sense if you want the earlier, more compact Tiguan with a premium-feeling drive and you can find one in strong condition at a competitive price. If you are shopping mainly on value, the current pricing trend gives you room to be selective; if you want more space and a newer-feeling package, a different year may be the better fit.
