How much does the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan is a mixed but appealing choice if you want a compact SUV with a more premium feel than many rivals, and its 3.5/5 user rating reflects that balance. Owners commonly praise its smooth driving experience, premium interior, and decent gas mileage, while also appreciating its compact size and handling. The Tiguan’s use case is strongest if you want a polished, city-friendly SUV with a nicer cabin and a more responsive feel than many mainstream alternatives. With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan stands out as a compact SUV that aimed for a more premium feel than many rivals. It was pitched as a slightly sportier, more premium alternative to vehicles such as the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4, and it was conceived with a smooth and responsive drive in mind.

That said, owners and shoppers should pay close attention to its long-term ownership history, since reliability concerns can affect how trouble-free it feels over time. For used buyers, that means a careful inspection and service-history review matter more than usual if you want to reduce the risk of expensive repairs later.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 392 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.05% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,244 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $13,634 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,861 CAD.

That price movement suggests the 2017 Tiguan has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today. If you plan to sell later, the softer market means your resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and service records. A well-kept example should still be easier to move than one with visible wear or incomplete maintenance history.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.05% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2017 Tiguan makes sense if you want the earlier, more compact version with a premium-feeling cabin and a smoother, more responsive drive. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2017 can be a smart target because the market has softened and there are still plenty of listings to compare, but you should prioritise condition and maintenance history over chasing the cheapest example.
