How much does the 2017 Volkswagen Golf cost?

There are 131 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Golf a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2017 Volkswagen Golf stands out because it blends familiar Golf practicality with a sharper performance and upscale feel, while still offering a relatively subtle look. It also brings a generous equipment list for the class, including heated and electrically adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, bi-xenon headlights, and a rear-view camera. For you, that makes it a compelling choice if you want a quick hatchback that still feels usable every day. 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Golf reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reliability is generally regarded as solid, but coolant leaks, water pump failures, and timing-chain-related rattles are worth watching for on a used example. If you’re shopping used, a careful inspection and service-history review matter because those issues can turn into expensive ownership headaches later.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volkswagen Golf?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every good car to sit around for long.

• Deal availability: 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 131 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,799 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Golf's resale value?

The current average of $12,502 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,139 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future depreciation feel less abrupt if you buy at the right number. For a future seller, that means your best protection is to buy carefully and keep the car well maintained. A clean history and strong condition should matter more than trying to time a rebound.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Golf or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a well-equipped, subtly sporty hatchback with strong owner approval, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, you can also compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best condition and price combination.
