Used 2016 Volkswagen Golf for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2016 Volkswagen Golf cost?

Prices are up 2.16% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 134 listings available, which gives you a useful sense of inventory availability.

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Golf a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2016 Volkswagen Golf, and it fits the model’s appeal as a performance-focused hatchback with everyday usability. The overview points to a blend of serious pace, all-wheel-drive traction, and a high level of equipment, while still keeping the car relatively subtle and practical. That makes it a strong fit if you want a hot hatch that can handle commuting, year-round driving, and weekend fun without feeling overly compromised.

Only 20.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you may need to shop carefully to find the best value.

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Golf reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes its reliability reputation as fairly solid, which is encouraging for a used performance hatchback. Even so, coolant leaks and water pump failures are not unknown, so a careful inspection and service-history review matter more than usual on a used example. For long-term ownership, that means you should budget for maintenance and be selective about condition rather than assuming every car will be trouble-free.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Volkswagen Golf?

This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when a well-priced example appears.

• Deal availability: 20.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 134 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.16% year-over-year.

If you find a listing below $10,804 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Volkswagen Golf's resale value?

The current average of $11,910 CAD sits slightly above last year's $11,658 CAD.

That upward move suggests the market is still willing to pay for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. The combination of strong performance, all-wheel drive, and a well-equipped cabin helps keep it relevant with used buyers. Because demand appears steady and the price trend is positive, a clean, well-maintained example should remain easier to move than a less distinctive compact hatchback.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Volkswagen Golf or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 20.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.16% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of performance, equipment, and everyday usability, the 2016 is the year to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry point, but the 2016 still stands out as the better-balanced choice when you can find a clean example at the right price.
