Is the 2017 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. For you, that makes it a sensible compact SUV if you want everyday usability, strong visibility, and all-weather confidence. Is the 2017 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights its reliable all-wheel-drive capabilities and dependable day-to-day use, which supports confidence if you want a vehicle you can count on. Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 227 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.94% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,855 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $14,855 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,103 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Forester more attractive to buyers today but may limit upside for a future seller if prices stay soft. If you buy well now, you may be starting from a lower entry point, which can help cushion depreciation. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want a well-liked Forester with solid owner satisfaction and a softer price than it had a year ago. If you’re price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a similar Forester can be found at an even lower entry point.
