How much does the 2017 Subaru Forester cost?

There are 218 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its safety, spacious interior, and reliable all-wheel-drive capability, while also noting its comfort and useful technology. For you, that makes it a sensible choice if you want a practical compact SUV with a strong focus on visibility, all-weather confidence, and everyday usability. With 27.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliable all-wheel-drive capability and a vehicle that many drivers feel they can count on for daily use. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance records and any signs of hidden damage, since long-term ownership risk is tied more to individual vehicle history than to the model name alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options and some room to find value if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 218 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,978 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $15,060 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,388 CAD.

That kind of price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it can also mean future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who purchased when prices were higher. Strong value perception can help support demand later, especially for shoppers who prioritise practicality and all-weather capability.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong pick if you want a practical, safety-focused compact SUV with standard all-wheel drive and a solid owner satisfaction record. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may offer a lower entry price, but the 2017 stands out as a balanced choice when you want value, confidence, and broad appeal in one package.
