This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 135 listings available.

The current average of $15,058 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,828 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at today's softer pricing, you may have less downside risk than someone who purchased when values were higher. Strong demand for practical, all-wheel-drive crossovers can help support resale interest, especially when the vehicle has been well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a practical, all-wheel-drive compact crossover with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price, the 2017 is a sensible choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the newest badge alone.
