This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

What is the 2017 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $41,000 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,410 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy now, you may be entering at a lower cost basis than shoppers did a year ago, which can help soften depreciation pressure later. Strong demand for capable heavy-duty trucks can still support resale, especially when the vehicle has been well cared for.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 23.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the better choice if you want a well-liked heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price than last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also keep an eye on nearby model years, but the 2017 offers a compelling balance of value and satisfaction.
