Is the 2017 Dodge Durango a good car?

Owners consistently praise its powerful V8 engine, stylish design, and spacious interior, and they also like the range of features and smooth ride. If you want a three-row SUV with family-friendly space and a more muscular personality, that combination fits the Durango’s appeal well. Is the 2017 Dodge Durango reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable enough to live with day to day, especially when they value its power, comfort, and feature set. That said, used buyers should still plan for a careful inspection, because long-term ownership risk can be higher if a specific example has been poorly maintained or has unresolved issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Dodge Durango?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently while still being ready to move on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 20.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 79 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.13% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,237 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Dodge Durango's resale value?

The current average of $19,691 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,756 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays competitive. If you plan to resell later, the Durango’s value will likely depend on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Strong demand for well-kept examples can help support pricing, especially when the listing stands out on equipment and overall presentation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 20.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a three-row SUV with strong owner approval and a market that still offers some deal opportunities, the 2017 is a sensible place to focus. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year with lower average pricing may be worth a look, but the 2017 remains a good target when you want a balanced mix of value and buyer satisfaction.
