Why it stands out
The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro stands out as a performance car that blends sharp styling with serious capability. It sits in the sixth generation, which was described as lighter, smaller, tauter, and more efficient than the previous versions, while also delivering world-class power and driving dynamics. For 2017, Chevrolet added Teen Driver, a feature that lets parents monitor the use of the car by newly licensed drivers. The Camaro also kept its coupe and convertible body styles, and the available 1LE package for the V6 and V8 engines gave the car a track-focused edge with flat-black hood paint.
Powertrain choice is a major part of the Camaro’s appeal. The 2017 model offered a turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.6-litre V6, and a Corvette-sourced 6.2-litre V8, with a standard six-speed manual transmission and an available eight-speed automatic. The high-performance ZL1 returned in 2017 with a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 rated at 650 horsepower, plus either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic. It could accelerate to 96 km/h in 3.4 seconds and included Recaro suede and leather race seats and Brembo brakes, which helps explain why this Camaro is so appealing to buyers who want genuine muscle-car pace.
There are trade-offs, though. The Camaro’s interiors were described as cheaply outfitted and full of plastic, and owners also point to limited cargo space and poor visibility as drawbacks. Even so, the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro remains distinctive because it combines retro-inspired style, modern technology such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wide spread of performance levels that range from accessible to genuinely extreme.

The 2SS has everything you could want as far as extra features. Beautiful leather interior, ambient lighting, heated & cooled seats, navigation, heads up display. The visibility in a Camaro takes some getting used to and there’s not much of a backseat. Other than that, set up like a race car with no extra storage or door pockets. It’s a beautiful car. This one is a 50th anniversary edition with the Fifty emblem on the steering wheel. This isn’t the car you want for good gas mileage with the V8. It sounds good with the dual exhaust. This car is prettier in person because the carbon fiber panels don’t show up well in photos.

Final price was far from ad listing. Beautiful car. 2017 to 2021 excellent convertibles. Love red accent interiors. Its only a Camaro for me, nothing else.

Good car, battery was dead, ding in left rear fender, rust/discolorization of exhaust tubes, torn rubber air dam up front on both sides.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?
Yes — the 4.74/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the Camaro’s stunning looks, impressive power, thrilling performance, smooth ride, and advanced technology. The overview also shows why it appeals to you if you want a performance car with serious capability, modern features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wide range of engine choices from accessible to extreme. With 24.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?
Owners rate it 4.74/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car people tend to enjoy over time, especially for its performance and driving experience. The language around being dependable and trouble-free is not the main story here, but the strong satisfaction score suggests many owners feel confident living with it. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the driving character and more about whether you can live with the Camaro’s practical compromises.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 62 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.43% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $26,921 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?
The current average of $30,058 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,124 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can make the Camaro more approachable for you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means resale expectations should be tempered a bit compared with last year’s pricing. Even so, the model’s strong enthusiast appeal helps support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.74/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.43% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.74/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the Camaro’s strong performance, modern tech, and a market that currently offers some pricing flexibility. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 remains a compelling choice when you want the sixth-generation Camaro’s style and capability without paying peak pricing.
