Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.22/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a car that many owners consider dependable when it has been well maintained, with comments highlighting its strong overall value and long-term appeal. At the same time, some buyers noted potential engine issues, so used examples deserve careful inspection and a full maintenance review before you commit.

For a used buyer, the main long-term ownership risk is that repair and upkeep costs can rise quickly if the car has been neglected or if the example you choose has unresolved mechanical concerns.

The current average of $16,670 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,394 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who pays near the top of the range. The broad appeal of the 3 Series helps support demand, but future resale will still depend heavily on mileage, condition, and service history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.22/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
