This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be picky and wait for the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 172 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.83% compared with last year.

What is the 2017 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $16,463 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,281 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car more attractive to you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means there may be less room for appreciation unless the car is especially well equipped, low kilometre, or in standout condition. Strong maintenance records and desirable options should help protect value better than a basic or neglected example.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.22/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.22/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a well-liked, premium compact sedan with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price, the 2017 is the year to focus on. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but the 2017 gives you a good balance of value, satisfaction, and market availability.
