CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Acura RDX

Summary
With 131 currently listed for sale and an average price of $18,096 CAD, 23.7% of 2017 Acura RDX listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Acura RDX 4.88 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Acura RDX stands out as a practical luxury crossover that leans more toward comfort and usability than outright sportiness. It belongs to the second generation, which brought a 3.5-litre V6 with 273 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive through a six-speed automatic transmission. Acura also softened the suspension for a more comfortable driving experience and lowered the vehicle compared with the previous version, helping it appeal to buyers who wanted a refined small SUV rather than a hard-edged one.
That second-generation formula also made the RDX more spacious and family-friendly. The cabin was larger, with room for adults in both rows, and cargo space measured 739 litres behind the second row and 2,178 litres with the rear seats folded flat. For 2016, Acura added driver-assist technology as part of the AcuraWatch suite, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation with automatic braking, lane departure intervention, and available blind-spot monitoring. The Technology Package also gained an eight-inch centre display and a seven-inch touchscreen, though the two-screen setup was described as not very intuitive to use.
For shoppers, the 2017 Acura RDX offers a strong mix of comfort, equipment, and value. It came after the 2016 update, so it benefits from the added safety technology while remaining one of the more practical choices in Acura’s small luxury SUV line-up. Its main trade-off is that the second-generation RDX was designed to be less sporty than the original, so drivers looking for the sharpest handling may find it more restrained than they expect.

Feature set for this model good. Not having retractable mirrors is a disappointment. Otherwise I’m pleased with the design.

The 2017 Acura RDX is an excellent choice for a nice suv. This particular model year has a v6 with lots of power. With tons of standard features it is a bargain and fun to drive. The only negative is that it needs premium gas for optimum performance. Great product at a reasonable price compared to its competitors.

| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $18,075 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $17,961 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $22,523 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $20,500 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.83% |

There are 129 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2017 Acura RDX a good car?
Yes — the 2017 Acura RDX earns a 4.9/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spacious and luxurious feel, smooth ride, and robust power. The model also fits well if you want a practical luxury crossover with room for adults in both rows and a comfort-first driving character. With 20.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Acura RDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centred on the vehicle’s smooth operation and overall confidence over time. That kind of long-term approval matters if you want a used luxury crossover you can count on.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly, especially if you plan to keep it for several years.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Acura RDX?
This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.
- Deal availability: 20.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 129 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.83% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $17,961 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Acura RDX's resale value?
The current average of $18,075 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,500 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy with less risk of overpaying. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be steadier if you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition. Because the model has strong owner satisfaction, demand should remain reasonably healthy among shoppers looking for a comfortable luxury crossover.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Acura RDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 20.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.83% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2017 Acura RDX is a smart choice if you want a comfortable, practical luxury crossover with strong owner approval and a market that still offers some deal opportunities. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year with similar equipment may be worth comparing, but the 2017 remains the better pick when you want a balanced mix of value, comfort, and buyer confidence.
