The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free experience for many shoppers, with praise centred on long-term value, fuel economy, and useful safety features. Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 254 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.96% compared with last year.

What is the 2016 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $14,359 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,270 CAD.

That softer pricing can be a plus if you’re buying now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the market tightens. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests you should expect value to be shaped more by condition, mileage, and maintenance history than by broad market appreciation. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want a well-liked compact SUV with strong owner satisfaction, a softer price trend, and enough inventory to shop carefully. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2016 is the better all-around pick when you want a balanced mix of value, appeal, and buyer confidence.
