How much does the 2016 Volkswagen Golf cost?

Prices have softened 3.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 134 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Golf a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2016 Volkswagen Golf is positioned as a compact performance hatch that combines serious pace with everyday usability, and its standard equipment list is unusually rich for the class. It also suits you if you want a five-door hatch with a subtle, upscale look and practical day-to-day usability. With 26.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Golf reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes its reliability reputation as fairly solid rather than exceptional, and it notes coolant leaks and water pump failures as possible issues. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable, but you should pay close attention to maintenance history and any signs of cooling-system trouble.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Volkswagen Golf?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 134 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,805 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Volkswagen Golf's resale value?

The current average of $11,443 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,868 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, which can make future resale gains harder to count on in the short term. Even so, the model’s strong equipment list and performance-focused appeal help it stand out in the used market. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you should have a better chance of holding buyer interest when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Volkswagen Golf or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of performance, equipment, and everyday usability, the 2016 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget, a different year may be worth considering, especially if you can find a lower-priced example with a clean history and the right maintenance records.
