Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota Tacoma?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 108 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.97% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,990 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $27,992 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,751 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more selectively now, but it also suggests future sellers may face a more competitive market than they did a year ago. Even so, the Tacoma’s strong owner satisfaction and reputation for long-lasting performance should continue to support demand. If you keep the truck in good condition and maintain it properly, you should still have a solid resale story later on. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want the updated third-generation Tacoma experience and you value a truck with proven owner appeal. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year with lower pricing may be worth a look, but the 2016 remains the better all-around pick if you want a balance of reputation, demand, and current market availability.
