Yes — 4.9/5 is a strong user rating for the 2016 Toyota 4Runner. Owners consistently praise its reliability, power, and features, and many also highlight the comfortable ride and spacious interior. The current average of $30,307 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,383 CAD.

That kind of softening suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. Even so, the 4Runner’s reputation for durability and strong owner satisfaction helps support demand over time. If you buy well now, you should still have a solid chance of holding value better than many mainstream SUVs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the 4Runner’s rugged character, strong reliability reputation, and solid resale potential, the 2016 is a sensible choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing closely, but the 2016 remains a good target when you find one priced near the lower end of the market.
