Is the 2016 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Subaru Impreza earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out as a practical compact car with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a comfortable ride, and everyday usability in either sedan or hatchback form. It is especially appealing if you want all-weather traction without giving up compact-car convenience. Is the 2016 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Impreza is described as part of Subaru’s fourth generation, with a reputation for durability and a straightforward mechanical setup centred on a 2.0-litre boxer engine and standard all-wheel drive. That combination supports confidence for used buyers who want a dependable compact car for year-round driving. For long-term ownership, you should still inspect maintenance history carefully, since any used vehicle can carry age-related wear.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Subaru Impreza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on well-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 107 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.47% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,280 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $10,280 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,608 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a lower entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays subdued. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests you should focus on buying well and keeping the car in strong condition. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.47% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a sensible choice if you want standard all-wheel drive, practical everyday usability, and a market that currently favours careful shoppers. If your priority is stretching your budget, this year looks especially worth considering; if you want to compare nearby years, you can also use pricing and deal share to decide whether another model year offers better value for your needs.
