For a used buyer, the main ownership risk is making sure the specific truck you choose has been maintained well and that any tech or feature issues have been sorted out.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 RAM 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 728 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,903 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $17,906 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,905 CAD.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the truck easier to buy now but may also limit short-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, the current pricing trend means your return will depend more on condition, mileage, and trim appeal than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples should still attract interest, especially if they present as clean, comfortable, and well equipped.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $16,974 CAD, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $17,906 CAD average.
• It offers strong interior comfort and a compelling chassis.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2016 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2015 is the better value play, especially if you find one in good condition.
