Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a strong fit if you want a full-size luxury sedan that prioritises refinement, advanced features, and a polished driving experience, and its user rating of 3.92/5 reflects that balanced appeal. Drivers commonly praise its luxurious feel, advanced amenities, great handling, value for money, and superior performance compared with competitors. With 29.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding one priced competitively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a complex full-size luxury sedan with a deeply polished driving experience, advanced technology, and a long list of high-end features. Owners often describe it as luxurious, well equipped, and strong on performance, and some also point to its value for money relative to rivals. At the same time, drivers have noted maintenance costs and electronic components as areas that can become challenging over time. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about basic capability and more about whether you are prepared for potentially expensive repairs and upkeep.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare condition, history, and pricing before you commit.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 65 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 35.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,014 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $37,014 CAD sits slightly below last year's $57,734 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point if you plan to keep the car for a while. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to mileage, condition, and service history than to broad market momentum. If you maintain the car well and keep documentation organised, you will be in a better position to protect value when it is time to sell.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 35.89% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a sensible choice if you want the S-Class experience at a lower entry price and you are comfortable shopping selectively for the right example. If you want the best value, focus on well-kept 2016 listings with strong service records; if you are especially price-sensitive, it is also worth comparing nearby years to see whether a cleaner or better-equipped alternative fits your budget more comfortably.
