That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy at the right number now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used Mazda CX-9 with strong owner approval and a softer price than a year ago, the 2016 is the primary year to focus on. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on listings at the lower end of the range and compare them carefully against other nearby model years before you decide.
