Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 4.73/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its handling, comfort, and fuel economy, and the review summary also highlights its value for money and useful safety features. That fits well if you want a compact SUV that feels more car-like and engaging on the road while still covering everyday duties. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable in day-to-day use, with praise centred on its overall satisfaction, comfort, and value. At the same time, the model’s broader reputation suggests you should pay close attention to maintenance records and condition, especially on higher-mileage examples. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk is manageable if you choose carefully and verify the vehicle’s history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 256 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.60% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,928 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $14,178 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,513 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar unless the vehicle is especially well kept. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside exposure later because the current market already reflects some depreciation. Strong condition, complete maintenance records, and desirable equipment should help support your eventual resale position.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact SUV with appealing road manners, strong owner satisfaction, and a market that currently offers some pricing flexibility, the 2016 is a sensible place to focus. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price or a better-equipped example gives you more value for your budget.
